VisiClear has been a staple in removable labs for quite some time as part of an injectable workflow using traditional laboratory products and manufacturing practices. In the ongoing digital transformation that’s still occurring in the laboratory today, Myerson Tooth Company has invested heavily in shifting their product mix to include CAD/CAM products in addition to the traditional products that they are renowned for in the industry. The latest addition to their CAD/CAM lineup: VisiClear CAD, available in a millable disc exclusively from Zahn Dental and Custom Milling Center. Whether you’re a removable lab interested in going digital or a digital lab interested in adding a removable department, VisiClear CAD represents new opportunities to become more efficient, expand your product offering, and deliver a cutting-edge product that doctors and patients alike will appreciate.
What is it?
Myerson VisiClear CAD is an advanced thermoplastic for making clear, flexible, partial denture frameworks, occlusal splints, and nightguards. For the purposes of this blog post we will focus on using VisiClear to manufacture removable partial dentures.
Due to its unique chemical properties, VisiClear CAD does not absorb water, resulting in a partial denture that is resistant to stains, bacteria, and odors. In the event that the surface is stained, the restoration can easily be restored with a cleaner or polisher. Adding clasps or making repairs is simple and takes less than 30 minutes with the Myerson Hot Shot Elite injector.
Because VisiClear CAD is flexible and clear, it offers increased patient comfort and esthetics, taking on the color of the surrounding teeth or tissue. In addition, the VisiClear CAD digital workflow results in an excellent fit due to the accuracy offered by scanned models and digital manufacturing.
More Features and Benefits of VisiClear CAD:

Workflow Option #1: Milling In-house
The new millable disc format integrates seamlessly into the digital workflow, using standard PMMA tools and strategies. Adding pink tissue is optional and this decision should be made during a doctor/patient consult, as VisiClear CAD takes on the color of surrounding teeth and tissue.

Workflow Option #2: Outsourcing to Custom Milling Center
Another easy way to get started with VisiClear CAD is to outsource to Custom Milling Center, the only milling center that offers VisiClear CAD. Outsourcing works well because it’s a prudent way to test the waters – send a case to CMC, review the work, and share it with some of your most trusted doctors for feedback. It’s easy to scale up from there by simply sending more cases to CMC or choosing to begin milling in-house.
